What are the best games with open-world cities and large urban environments? Here are some of the best ones you can play right now on Xbox.

Video games depict some of the most amazing and immersive worlds that are filled with mysteries, quests, and adventures. Thanks to them, we have visited fantasy lands, post-apocalyptic cities, alternate dimensions, and dark dystopias. While spending time in those worlds is a lot of fun, you might want to jump into some games with large open-world cities like GTA 5 or Watch Dogs. That’s why we listed some of the best games that allow you to immerse yourself in an urban environment.

Watch Dogs Series

Ubisoft’s popular video game franchise invites players to Chicago, San Francisco and London. Though these cities are integrated with technological infrastructure where players get to control almost everything through servers. Even though the games in the series have never been considered “masterpieces”, they all managed to offer a successful depiction of urban environments. Especially with the design of a technologically advanced London, Watch Dogs Legion did a great job for sure:

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate is one of the underrated games in the series. Yet again, it does a wonderful job of creating an immersive city environment. Visiting London during the Industrial Revolution, witnessing child labor, the first effects of air pollution and all the other elements was a unique experience. Players are able to drive carriages, use a grappling hook and get around the city with an always-moving locomotive.

Saints Row 4

Nothing is real in the city of Steelport. It is a massive playground where you get to initiate chaos whenever you want. The city is also filled with aliens, strange citizens and mind-puzzling illusions. And it consists of 4 districts, New Colvin, Stanfield, Carver Island and Downtown.

Players get to visit the real Steelport in Saints Row 3 whereas the fourth game offers a virtual replica of the chaotic city.

Fallout 3

One of the older titles in our list,  Fallout 3 invites you to the post-nuclear capital city of Washington D.C.

Like the other Fallout games in the franchise, the third game does an amazing job in depicting a city years after a nuclear explosion. Once the capital of the USA is now a chaotic plethora of radioactive creatures, ruthless raiders and vigilantes with power armor. Discovering its ruins, abandoned buildings and radioactive sewers is one of the best things about Fallout 3. And if you are looking for a game with an open-world city, this one is a solid pick.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 invites players to Night City. It is a metropolis filled with moral dilemmas, citizens with cybernetic upgrades, gang violence and of course, bugs. Even though Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the biggest disappointments of the decade, the world it depicts does offer a rewarding experience. Night City looks and feels amazing when it was not troubled by strange glitches and ridiculous bugs.

Yet again, the fans of the cyberpunk genre will find nothing but joy when cruising around this massive city. Thanks to its huge corporate buildings, neon signs and dystopian atmosphere; you will feel like you are in the movie Blade Runner.

Yakuza Franchise

Yakuza is a wonderful franchise that invites players to an 8-games long solid journey through the streets of Kamurocho. Developed by Sega, the Yakuza immerse players in a vibrant world filled with gangsters, punks, side missions, city activities and many more.

The critically acclaimed series allows players to visit local restaurants, spend time in clubs and roam around the district.

L.A. Noire

L.A. is such an amazing game that it also feels like a time machine. The attention to detail makes players believe that everything they see is real. Apart from its innovative gameplay, L.A. Noire offers a quite admirable recreation of Los Angeles in the 1950s.

If you are looking for a great game with large open-world cities; definitely give L.A. Noire a chance.

Here are some of the best games with open-world cities that you can play right now as some of them are already on Xbox Game Pass library.
