Destiny 2: The Lament quest guide

With Team Luminous having completed the “Deep Stone Crypt” raid, some new quests have popped up in the world of Destiny 2. On top of that, a new area is now accessible, as well. Now that the map has expanded a little bit, it’s now possible to pick up and complete the Lament quest.

You’ll pick this up from Banshee at the Tower. From there, you’ll need to find and reactivate three dead exos. In my haste, I did not photograph these before I awoke them. They then vanished. I regret this deeply. Here is a guide that’ll help you find the required three.

After that, you’ll be asked to locate the “Giant Exo” located in the Clovis Bray facility. You’ll find this giant creepy head in an area of the map called Creation. Once you speak to the giant head, you’ll officially be given the go-ahead to pursue The Lament.

Here are what the steps look like.

Kill vex with swords, and kill higher-tier Vex with swords

This step is pretty self explanatory. A good place to knock this out is over in Asterion Abyss, where loads of Vex wander around and some Vex-themed public events spawn. It is a bit of a pain to find Minotaurs, etc. — especially since a lot of other players are also out to kill them right now. It wouldn’t be a Destiny 2 quest step if it wasn’t inconvenient, right?

Complete an Exo Challenge

The Exo Challenge part of the new questline you get from The Stranger. If you do that before you pick up the Lament quest, the Exo Challenge is also a selectable activity on Europa. Complete it to check off this box and move on to the next step.

Kill Vex with finishers

Again, Asterion Abyss is likely the place to go for this one. Use a weaker weapon to take enemies down to near death, then perform a finisher. You’ll get about 2% per normal enemy, and a bit more for higher tier enemies.

Complete “The Glassway” strike

This step is worded rather confusingly, as it almost makes it sound as though there are literal hidden blades in this strike. There aren’t. All you have to do is run the strike on any difficulty and finish it. That completes this part of the quest.

Go back to Banshee in the Tower

Head back to the Tower and speak to Banshee. He’ll hand you a Broken Blade item that’ll sit in a Power Weapon slot for the remainder of the questline.

Complete Bunker E15 in Eventide Ruins

Nothing special here, either. There’s nothing you need to find in Bunker E15, nor is this Lost Sector any different than usual. Just go in, kill the boss, pop the cache at the end, and you’ll have completed this step. You’ll find the location below if you need pointed in the right direction.

Complete the “Reforging the Past” mission

Finally, you’ll get a new mission to run to finally complete this quest and get the Lament. I don’t want to spoil too much of this for you, but I’ll say this — YOU GET TO DRIVE A TANK. At least for a little.

This mission is pretty easy to do solo. Enemies aren’t overpowered. There aren’t Barrier Champions or Overload Minotaurs or anything of the sort. Really, you got the hardest part out of the way when you did all that grinding to start. Just drink in how cool this new area is, kill some bad guys, and get your fancy new sword.

Head back to Banshee in the Tower

Banshee is going to drop a truth bomb on you. That’s all. Once you read through what he has to say, you’ll have wrapped up the questline in its entirety.

Don’t forget to tick your Triumph off for this quest when you’re done. Congratulations! You’re now the proud new owner of the Lament. Use it well.
