The Fang of Xivu Arath — named after Oryx’s other sister — is the newest Destiny 2: Beyond Light Seasonal Artifact. Using this Artifact, you’ll unlock a host of different mods for use in both Beyond Light and Season of the Hunt. But what mods are found in the Fang of Xivu Arath? And how do you get the Artifact in the first place?

Obtaining the Artifact in Destiny 2: Beyond Light is easy enough. Visit the Tower, head down to Zavala’s office on the lowest floor (either using the stairs or the fancy new elevator). You’ll see a terminal on the left side of the room facing the window. Go to that, and you’ll be given the Artifact, along with a transmission from Osiris.

As for the mods themselves? There’s some really good news to come out of Beyond Light. With this expansion, Destiny 2 is no longer tying Barrier, Overload, Unstoppable, and other mods to Destiny 2 Weapons themselves. Instead, you’ll apply those abilities in the form of Armor Mods. That means your Exotic arsenal won’t be rendered entirely useless. You can wear the Overload Rounds mod for your Arms Armor, and your Hard Light will become an Overload weapon. Glorious.

Here’s what’s you’ll find in the Artifact:

Tier 1

  • Overload Rounds (Auto Rifle) – Armors Armor Mod
  • Unstoppable Hand Cannon – Arms Armor Mod
  • Anti-Barrier Pulse Rifle – Arms Armor Mod
  • Overload Rounds (Scout Rifle) – Arms Armor Mod
  • Anti-Barrier Submachine Gun – Arms Armor Mod

Tier 2

  • Hand Cannon Targeting – Helmet Armor Mod
  • Unflinching Pulse Rifle Aim – Chest Armor Mod
  • Scout Rifle Targeting – Helmet Armor Mod
  • Shotgun Dexterity – Arms Armor Mod
  • Grenade Launcher Loader – Arms Armor Mod

Tier 3

  • Unflinching Hand Cannon Aim – Chest Armor Mod
  • Pulse Rifle Loader – Arms Armor Mod
  • Unflinching Scout Rifle Aim – Chest Armor Mod
  • Shotgun Ammo Finder – Helmet Armor Mod
  • Grenade Launcher Scavenger – Leg Armor Mod

Tier 4

  • Momentum Siphon – Class Item Mod
  • Surge Eater – Class Item Mod
  • Unstoppable Schwarzchild Condensor – Class Item Mod
  • Thermal Overload – Class Item Mod
  • Spoils of War – Class Item Mod

Tier 5

  • Unstoppable Shotgun – Arms Armor Mod
  • Pyretic Embrace – Class Item Mod
  • Berserker – Class Item Mod
  • Abyssal Charge – Combat Style Armor Mod
  • Thermal Blooming – Arms Armor Mod

I know what you’re probably thinking here — WHAT? Unstoppable shotgun? Yes, it appears Bungie is willing to step out of its comfort zone a little bit here. In addition to putting those types of mods on armor pieces now, Bungie is letting more than just primary weapons deal some disruptive pain.

The Berserker mod also looks very interesting. It gives you bonus weapon damage after a Super, and bases the length and intensity of that damage boost on how many Super kills you got. If you go absolutely H.A.M. with a Super, you should be dealing some pretty good damage afterward, and for a nice period of time. People are bound to find good builds for this mod in no time.

In fact, most of the mods present lend themselves to interesting builds. That’s perhaps the best thing about the changes to Seasonal Mods with Beyond Light and Season of the Hunt. Bungie is really forcing you to make some decisions here. The result is, not everyone will end up choosing the same mods. Finally, some variety!
