Xbox Game Studios and Tencent’s TiMi have signed a partnership. It will result in ‘excellent game content’ as the announcement states.
Tencent’s subsidiary TiMi Studios is one of the biggest game developers of the last year. Although it is currently focusing on Pokémon Unite, the studio is mainly known for its famous title Call of Duty Mobile. More than 500 million mobile users have downloaded the mobile installment of the Call of Duty series. The studios also developed Honor of Kings, an immensely popular MOBA game on mobile which generated $2.5 billion in 2020.

TiMi has developed one of the most successful mobile games of the last year. And with this partnership, the company is probably aiming to expand its reach on a global level. On the other hand, Xbox Game Studios has become massive with 23 first-party studios under its banner too.
The acquisition of ZeniMax cost the tech giant Microsoft a whopping $7.5 billion. Now stronger than ever, the team-up of Xbox Game Studios and Tencent’s TiMi will open up new possibilities for both sides.
Mobile games on Xbox consoles might be possible
Although the ‘joining forces’ gave us hope to see mobile games on Xbox, there are not many details about it. But we know that TiMi’s new title Pokémon Unite will be available on Nintendo Switch. So developing a cross-platform title is not new to Tencent’s subsidiary.
We will know further details about Xbox Game Studios and TiMi partnership at the end of 2021. Yet again, it is important to note that the announcement did not comment on Xbox distribution in China. But instead, it says that the two sides will create new game content in the future. In any case, it is safe to say that this is good news for gamers. Because these types of partnerships which include giants of different regions result in huge products.
