Borderlands 3 next-gen

If you’re a huge Borderlands 3 fan — or if you’re someone who hasn’t picked the game up yet but wants to — it’ll now be even better to play on Xbox Series X and S. Per a post on Xbox News Wire, the Borderlands 3 next-gen update has officially gone live. Even better, it makes use of Smart Delivery, which means existing owners of the game can upgrade for free.

“Wreak havoc across the galaxy on Xbox Series X in 4K resolution at up to 60 frames per second in single-player and online play,” the post reads. “And as a new next-gen feature, both the Xbox Series X|S consoles support three- and four-player split-screen local co-op multiplayer. We’ve also added in two-player vertical split-screen — a highly requested option that has also been patched into the Xbox One version.”

It’s nice to see that Gearbox implemented Smart Delivery here, mainly because it ensures a smooth transition for players who are currently on an Xbox One. If they upgrade now or in the future to an Xbox Series X or S, their progress will travel right along with them, and they won’t have to rebuy the game all over again. Pretty cool.

In other news, it sounds like there’s going to be some additional DLC coming for Borderlands 3 next year. We’ll keep you posted on that as more details are released. In the meantime, enjoy the Borderlands 3 next-gen update.
