Immortals Fenyx Rising is, for all intents and purposes, an action RPG. That said, the combat — though it does have a tiny bit of depth — is more on the arcadey side. You’ll be striking quickly and in combos most of the time. In order to progress in your adventure, you’ll need to know a bit about the Immortals Fenyx Rising weapons and how you should use them.
To start, your sword attack is mapped to RB. This is your quickest attack, and the easiest to maneuver out of should an enemy attack be on its way. Pressing RB rapidly will let you slice your sword multiple times at great speed. For smaller, weaker enemies, this is pretty much all you need.
Your axe attack is mapped to RT. This is a larger, more powerful attack, but it is also slower and leaves you vulnerable for a brief period. The axe is particularly useful against larger and slower enemies as a result, but also comes in handy against shielded combatants. Those with shields will typically block your sword attack. With a swing of the axe, you can break this defense and open enemies up to a flurry of sword swipes.
Your bow and arrow attack is initiated by pulling LT. This both pulls out your bow and readies an arrow. Holding down LT keeps the arrow readied, enabling you to aim using the right stick. To fire off an arrow, pull down on RT while aiming, then release. You can also press RB while aiming to fire off Apollo’s Arrows. These are able to then be steered toward a target using the right stick.
Finally, remember that you can throw things. Anything you can pick up is a weapon in Immortals Fenyx Rising, whether it is a boulder, a log, a box, or some other item. To pick something up, orient yourself in the direction of the object and press LB. When the object is highlighted, press Y to summon it to you. You can hold down RT to charge up a throw (and line up where you are going to throw an object), then release it to give it a toss.
