Here’s your Orcs Must Die 3 review on Xbox One if you are looking for some orc-killing and base defending.

Orcs Must Die 3 is the third installment of the base defending series developed by Robot Entertainment. The game offers a great experience of base defending and tower-building action. You, as the player, are tasked with the defense of a portal. As hordes of orcs race through to enter the portal, you need to use a set of traps and weapons to make the path is as deadly as possible.

The first game of the action-tower defense video game series landed on Xbox Live Arcade back on October 4, 2011. The gamer later found its way to Windows after a week. Even with its first game, Orcs Must Die series managed to offer a rich gameplay style thanks to the wide range of traps, classes, and weapons. The latest member of the franchise also did the same with much better and refined gameplay. The new title also comes with various modes that come with more difficult challenges. We have reviewed the game on Xbox One.

Orcs Must Die 3 Gameplay on Xbox One

The 2020 Google Stadia game landed on PC, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on July 23, 2021. Orcs Must Die 3 does not come with dramatic changes and offers pretty much the same as its predecessors. There is nothing wrong with that though as the franchise knows what it is. It is simply a 3D action-tower defense game with a little bit of story and a wide variety of different traps and weapons. It takes place after 20 years of the second game and introduces two new characters.

The multiplayer mode allows you to play with friends as well. Battling against hordes of orcs to defend the rift is always fun. But when you add upgradable traps, lots of new instruments of destruction, and more than two doors for orcs to come through; things become much more complicated. The franchise definitely manages to keep that solid feeling when you get during a playthrough in a base defense game. You need to know where to put the next trap to make it more effective by combining it with the existing ones. It is especially great in War Scenarios mode where you have to defend against up to 1000 orcs.

Traps and Weapons

OMD3 comes with more than 40 traps including the ones in War Scenarios like Giant Flip Trap, Bank of Archers, Bowling Boulder, Mega Boom Barrel Launcher, Giant Killer Beehive Tree, Rapid Fire Ballista, Tornado In A Box, and War Outpost.

The weapons on the other hand are also great. Chain Lightning Staff, Crossbow, Blunderbuss, Bladestaff, Ice Amulet, and Wind Belt are just some of them. With the Drastic Steps DLC campaign, you can also use Arcane Staff and Broadsword.

As mentioned earlier, you will find no major changes in the third installment of the series. But that is perfectly fine as the game is polished and developed well enough to be called a different game. With weekly challenges, various game modes, and proven gameplay mechanics, Orcs Must Die 3 is definitely a solid tower defense game that you should play on Xbox One.

On the other hand, experienced players should not get their hopes up as it almost feels like a refined Orcs Must Die 2. But if you still want to have a fresh taste in the genre, the game deserves a chance for sure. It also has an expansion called Drastic Steps that added a new endless map alongside new weapons, enemies, cosmetics, and a campaign. That’s all in our Orcs Must Die 3 review on Xbox One.
