Playing Backward compatible games on Xbox is a great opportunity if you’ve upgraded your console to new generations. If you own these games from earlier, you can keep playing them on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
In this article, you can also find basic information on how to play the compatible games in the cloud and on Xbox Series X/S too.
How to Play Xbox 360 and Original Xbox Games
First of all, you need to find out if the games you own are backward compatible. For that, you need to check your game library. Go to:
- My games & apps
- See all
- Full library
- All owned games
After that, filter on “All console types” and select “Xbox 360 & Xbox games” or “Xbox One games”.
When you got the compatible games, these are the next steps.
On Xbox console: Insert your game disc into your console. If a digital game you bought is compatible, you will be able to see it in your games list. For that, go to:
- My games & apps
- See all
- Full library
- All owned games
- Ready to install
In the Cloud: Your available game options will be visible with the indications of “Xbox” or “Xbox 360”. You can access these games the same as other cloud titles. The exception is that you’ll need to press the “Menu” and “View” buttons simultaneously to access the Xbox 360 guide. You will also see specific features such as achievements or friend requests.
