Over the past few years, I’ve become a bit of a frame rate snob. Playing games at anything less than 60 FPS is really, really tough. That said, I’ve rolled through a number of titles that I ultimately loved, but wished I could experience at a higher frame rate somewhere down the line. That’s why I was eager to try Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on Xbox Series X. I was not disappointed.
Jedi: Fallen Order‘s Performance Mode tried its best on the Xbox One X, but never really delivered as far as hitting 60 FPS was concerned. That changes on the Xbox Series X. The game is finally hitting that mark, and is doing so almost all the time.
What’s more, Jedi: Fallen Order looks positively stunning. Performance mode is supposedly dropping the resolution down to 1080p, but for some reason — perhaps the game’s art style or aesthetics — Jedi: Fallen Order looks a lot better than Shadow of the Tomb Raider on Xbox Series X. In that game, the drop in resolution is fairly obvious. Here? Not so much.
It was just one year ago I was enjoying my first playthrough of this stellar title. Suddenly — thanks to the bit of time I spent with it to gauge Series X performance and capture footage — I have an itch to play it again. If you have an Xbox Series X and haven’t played Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order yet, you’re in for a real treat. Just be sure to turn Performance Mode on prior to kicking things off.
