My favorite side of video games — aside from playing the games themselves — is the tech talk. Really, there’s no better place to get that than on Digital Foundry, where the crew breaks down resolution, frame rate, load times, and all that jazz for games on both PC and console. The folks at Digital Foundry recently got a look at Dirt 5, which launches on Xbox One Nov. 6, and on Xbox Series X/S Nov. 10. Why is this a big deal? Because it’s the first Xbox Series X game we’ve gotten to see in action.
Dirt 5 on Xbox Series X looks to be a showcase of what fans can hope for once the Xbox Series X arrives. It pushes the console’s graphical capabilities with varying types of scenery and effects. It has multiple visual modes, including one that shoots for 120 frames-per-second. Already it is trying to set the bar for what other games on Xbox Series X should try to do.
Even if you aren’t a racing fan, I encourage you to watch the video and see what the Xbox Series X is capable of. And if you pre-ordered yourself an Xbox Series S, take solace in the fact that you’ll be getting a lot of the same things, just at a lower resolution.
We’re less than a month away from the launch of the Xbox Series X and Series S now. Hopefully we get to see more games being played on the two machines prior to Nov. 10, 2020.
