The Xbox Series X launches in less than a week, and finally, we now know how Sea of Thieves on Xbox Series X will get from its upgrade. According to Rare’s Joe Neate, Sea of Thieves will hit full 4K and run at 60 frames-per-second. What’s more, the game will hit 60 frames-per-second on Xbox Series S, too, albeit at a resolution of 1080p.
This is pretty great news for Sea of Thieves fans, as the game is downright gorgeous as is, but definitely feels held back by its frame rate on console. Rare’s swashbuckling pirate adventure will see some other next-gen benefits, too — Neate mentioned “significantly reduced load times” in his post. The increased frame rate, however, may be the more game-changing feature in terms of how players will enjoy Sea of Thieves going forward.
The Sea of Thieves upgrade will arrive day and date with the Xbox Series X and Series S on Nov. 10. If you’re upgrading to a next-gen machine — and you’re an avid Sea of Thieves player — you’ll be playing the best version of the game available then.
