The game previously known as Gods & Monsters now has a newer, perhaps more confusing name: Immortals Fenyx Rising. It’s a new Ubisoft property, which is cool — you don’t see that every day. But just what is this game, exactly? And what is the Immortals Fenyx Rising release date?
If you’re here with your calendar in tow, get ready to scribble: Immortals Fenyx Rising comes to Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X on Dec. 3, 2020. Is that considered “launch window?” Yes, I believe it is.
Immortals Fenyx Rising puts you in the shoes of the titular Fenyx, a character that is fully customizable. It is my sincere belief that Lady Fenyx is now canon. You can’t convince me otherwise. But if you want to create your version of the hero in your own image, or any other image, that will indeed be possible.
According to the game’s description, Fenyx is “on a quest to save the Greek gods.” The world needs saving. The gods need saving. You, as Fenyx, will be the one to make that happen in a title that looks a lot like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, right down to the magnet powers.
How much will this one borrow from Nintendo’s legendary series? That remains to be seen. If you’re a fan of The Legend of Zelda, though, you should hope the answer is “as much as possible.” It’s tough to find a better series to be inspired by, and Ubisoft — a company that has open world games down to a science at this point — will likely add some of its own ingredients to the recipe, too.
And there’s one other thing that you should know about Immortals Fenyx Rising: it supports Smart Delivery. If you don’t plan on upgrading to an Xbox Series X/S right away, purchasing the Xbox One version of the game means you’ll get those next-gen improvements later at no additional cost.
So that’s the scoop on the game! There’s the Immortals Fenyx Rising release date. There’s a bit about what you can expect. I personally am looking forward to this one when it launches. If you are, as well, be sure to set a reminder so you’re ready when the game officially arrives.
