Yakuza: Like a Dragon is already out in Japan (and has been for some time), but for those of us in the U.S. and other Western countries, this latest entry in the storied Yakuza franchise will be brand new.
So what is the release date for Yakuza: Like a Dragon? It seems we have a split between the current-gen and next-gen platforms. Yakuza: Like a Dragon will come to PC and Xbox One on Nov. 13, 2020.
However, Microsoft has been fairly adamant that this upcoming Yakuza title is a “Day One” launch game for the Xbox Series X (and presumably, the Xbox Series S). With that in mind, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S release date for Yakuza: Like a Dragon X is likely Nov. 10, 2020.
As far as what you can expect from the game, Yakuza: Like a Dragon appears to be quite the departure from past titles in the franchise. Rather than the beat-em-up combat fans might be used to, Like a Dragon instead relies on RPG-style combat.
In addition to that, longtime series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu is out of the picture. Instead, you’ll be stepping into the shoes of Ichiban Kasuga, a man Microsoft describes as “a low-ranking grunt of a low-ranking yakuza family, betrayed, alone, and left on the brink of death by the man he trusted most.”
The story sounds quite scintillating, doesn’t it?
Whether you’re picking up the Xbox One version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon or opting to buy the next-gen version along with your Xbox Series X or S, you’re bound to have a good time in this one.
